Natural Resource Management: Restoring Land, Water, and Hope

Reviving ecosystems and livelihoods through sustainable, community-led conservation.

The hillsides of Sialbahali, once barren and eroded, now hold lush green plantations and newly dug contour trenches that shimmer with rainwater. “We’ve seen water in our fields for the first time in years,” says a farmer smiling proudly next to a new farm pond.

In 2024–25, Bhagabati Pathagar’s collaboration with MGNREGA resulted in staggered contour trenches, percolation tanks, and plantation drives across 35+ hectares of farmland. GIS technology mapped every structure, ensuring transparency and effective planning. These initiatives not only restore ecosystems but also provide local employment, helping families earn while they heal their land. Farmers now see brighter prospects with improved irrigation, reduced soil erosion, and better yields. This is more than conservation; it’s a revival of rural livelihoods through environmental stewardship.
